Welcome to 2 Dog Hotel, where your furry friends are treated like family. Meet Scott and Sarah, your hosts with over thirty years of experience in pet-sitting.
Looking out on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park, we provide individual vacation experiences for your beloved pets.
What sets us apart is our personalized approach to pet care. We only host one or two dogs (or cats) at a time right in our home. Nestled by Old Rag Mountain, our home offers easy access to outdoor adventures, ensuring your pets have the time of their lives.
In addition to pet-sitting, we’ve had the pleasure of raising four “Guiding Eyes for the Blind” puppies in the early 2000s. Puppy raising taught us about dog psychology and training, and while it’s never easy saying goodbye, knowing these pups go on to do great things makes it all worthwhile.
The National Park Service Old Rag Mountain parking lot is across the road, and the trail to the summit begins next to our driveway, so we spend lots of time outdoors with the dogs.
And we’re always up for a warm friend on our couch. Is your dog allowed on the sofa? How active is your furry friend? Whatever the case, you tell us about your dog’s health and lifestyle so we can help them relax and enjoy their vacation.
Planning a hike up Old Rag Mountain? While dogs aren’t allowed on the trail, we offer dog-sitting services to ensure your pet is cared for while you enjoy your adventure. Be sure to contact us at least one day in advance to arrange day-sitting services.
Due to Old Rag Mountain’s popularity, a ($2.00) day pass is required for each person in your party, in addition to having a National Park Service pass. Cell service and the Internet are unavailable when you reach the mountain, so get your passes before leaving home. Here’s an interesting blog on hiking Old Rag.
House Sitting
In addition to pet-sitting, we now offer comprehensive house-sitting services for your home and pets. Drawing from our experience with Intervac house swaps in Boston and Washington, DC, we understand the importance of clear communication and trust when caring for your home.
